Alfonso Remington Giannico

Printmaker, Cartographer, & Wine Professional

Alfonso Remington Giannico (b. 1991) is a Brooklyn-based printmaker, cartographer, graphic designer, and wine professional. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, Alfonso’s early life was immersed in equestrian polo and gaucho culture via his father’s influence. This connection eventually led his family to immigrate to Argentina for nearly a decade, an experience that profoundly shaped his worldview and deepened his appreciation for rugged landscapes, regional traditions, and the Mediterranean-influenced rituals of gathering. It was during his studies in Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was first exposed to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), providing the technical foundation for his cartographic work.

Artistry & Influence

His artistic practice is rooted in the meticulous disciplines of printmaking and cartography. Alfonso explores the intricate interplay of place, culture, and terroir, using visual storytelling to map the relationship between people and the land. His work is most often expressed through the lens of food and wine, capturing the essence of the Spanish and Italian heritage found in South America — from the ritual of pasta before a main course to the infinite, soulful conversations of the sobremesa.

A Decade in Wine

Alfonso’s creative work is informed by a decade-long career in the wine industry, characterized by a deep dive into every facet of the craft. His expertise is built on:

Distribution & Sales: Building a distinguished career in sales at Skurnik, Grand Cru Selections and The Source Imports. He currently holds the position of New York Sales and National Sales for The Source Imports.

Production & Research: Gaining firsthand knowledge through various harvest stints and endless cellar visits to study the nuances of terroir, and winemaking.

Hospitality & Retail: Serving as a sommelier and navigating fine wine retail with a focus on curation and provenance.

By bridging the gap between the technical world of wine and the tactile world of print, Alfonso creates a unique narrative space where geography, history, and the sensory experience where food and wine meet at an infinite table.
